Play NowSubject-verb agreement is like making sure the right puzzle pieces fit together in a sentence.
Subject-verb agreements typically only standout when used incorrectly.
Every sentence has subject (noun-think dog, cat, human, brother…), and a verb (think run, jump, eat, sleep).
The subject is who or what the sentence is about, and the verb is what the subject is doing.
Subject and verbs are kind of like Tetris pieces. Some fit together perfectly and some don’t fit together nicely at all!
For instance, if the subject is singular, like “the alien” the verb needs to be singular too, like “eats.” So, it would be “The alien eats.”
But if we’re talking about more than one alien, like “the aliens,” then the verb needs to be plural, like “eat.” So, it becomes “The aliens eat.”
